It can be tough to name something better than jumping into your own backyard pool on a hot day. Spending time in your pool can be quickly ruined if you don’t keep it in the best shape. You need to maintain your filter in order to make sure that your pool stays clean. Here is some info on the different types of pool filters and how they can be cleaned:
A sand filter contains a series of particles that can trap debris and prevent them from entering your pool. Water flows easily through the sand but everything else like dirt and leaves will get trapped by the sand. The main sign that it’s time to clean out your sand filter is when the pressure gauge rises. If the pressure rises between 8 to 10 psi, you will need to perform a backwash.
Cartridge filters work by pushing water through polyester cloth material which will trap the debris and dirt. You won’t have to backwash a cartridge filter instead you can just turn off the filter and remove the cartridge. After rinsing off the cartridge you can place it back into the filter pump and turn it back on.
Diatomaceous Earth Filter
A DE filter is a similar product to sand filters and it involves the process of water passing through a mesh filter which is coated with this powder. This will trap any of the debris. You’ll have to clean out a DE filter when the pressure rises by 8 to 10 psi and they also require backwash.
Leave The Cleaning To The Experts Instead
